The expansion of the OSI Group.
OSI Group is a multinational food processing company based in Aurora, Illinois, United States. OSI Group was founded in 1909 and produces and sells value-added food products to retail food and food service brands around the world. With locations in 17 countries throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas, OSI Group employs over 20,000 workers at more than 65 facilities.
What began as a small family-owned meat market in Chicago has expanded many times over the years. The first significant step was to become a supplier to McDonald’s restaurants, opening a dedicated facility in 1973. OSI Group began to expand internationally, first in Europe in 1978, and then into Latin America in 1982. Now a premier worldwide food provider, the company continues to grow. In 2016, OSI Group acquired two new properties.
Tyson Foods, Inc sold an existing food processing facility in Chicago, Illinois to the OSI Group. The 200,000 square foot property is a warehouse and meat processing facility. This real estate gives the firm expanded food processing and manufacturing capacity in the upper midwest region of the United States. Located close to other Chicago area facilities, this property will support continued business growth. OSI Group customers across the United States will benefit from this increased capacity.
Baho foods is a Dutch food and meat product processor and supplier to the foodservice and retail industries in Europe. OSI Group bought a controlling stake in the food company in the summer of 2016. Henri van de Bilt, Bakx Foods, Q Smart Life, Gelderland Frischwaren, and Vital Convenience are the five subsidiary companies that comprise Baho foods. These firms have a nearly 60-year history of supplying convenience foods and snacks as well as a range of deli meats to customers across Europe. The combined strengths of OSI Group and Baho foods will bring an increased ability to support their customers and implement plans for continued growth in this market.
